Heritage Category 1 Restoration | 2-Year Project

Following significant earthquake damage, Gary Mason Construction was engaged to restore this 1880s heritage-listed commercial building in the heart of Lyttelton. The project demanded careful demolition, sensitive construction around protected historical features, and tight coordination with owners, engineers, and compliance authorities.

Led by Gary Mason and foreman Graeme, the team navigated multiple plan changes and regulatory challenges while maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship and clear communication throughout.

Impulse Imports, Woolston

Heritage Earthquake Repair & Strengthening | Full Structural Overhaul

Following earthquake damage, this historic Woolston property required extensive repair and seismic strengthening. Gary Mason Construction managed the complete project lifecycle—from demolition and earthworks through to the installation of new structural elements—all while preserving the integrity of the original building. 

The project demanded practical leadership, budget discipline, and precision craftsmanship to meet compliance requirements and deliver a high-quality finish.

Heathcote House, Ferry Road 

Commercial Strengthening & Fit-Out

This commercial strengthening project included a steel external frame and installation of sixteen 26 m-deep piles, along with a new stairwell, elevator, first-floor extension, and office fit-outs. The structural enhancements ensured long-term integrity while accommodating functional upgrades.

St Asaph Street, City Centre 

Mixed-Class Repair & New Build

A sophisticated blend of restoration and new construction—this city-centre project repaired an existing building and constructed a new structure in its place. The build required precise groundwork, panel work, and structural framing.
